Our Goals -   Doing Good Deeds to Create Good Will and Spread

                            the "Good News!

We consider Jesus' words in the Great Commission to be the foundation of our goals at the church.  He said, "Go therefore and baptize all people in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and teach them all that I have commanded you."  It is our goal then to reach new people for Jesus and then to nurture and train them so that they in turn can be equipped to be leaders for Christ.  We believe that if we do good deeds it will give us the chance to create good will and then hopefully let us share the good news of Christ.  We have activities throughout the year that are designed to help us do this.  For instance we have a free cookout and our Praise band sings short sets during the cookout.  We have an Easter Egg Hunt and a Fall Festival we hope reaches families with children.  Do you have an idea that you would like to share with the church?  Once you are in the church we try  to involve you in the activities we have.  We encourage you to go on the Walk to Emmaus to strengthen you as a church member and leader.  We want to follow what Jesus said to do.  We want to help you and hence our church to fulfill God's vision for us in this world.

Our Mission

At Austinville UMC our mission is to offer Christ to people.  We want to reach new people for Jesus.  We also want to provide a place for people who are already Christians to grow spiritually and to learn about our faith.  Then we want to teach you how to put that faith into action remembering how Jesus said, "When you have done it unto the least of these you have done it unto me."  Gone are the days where the church people warm the pews on Sunday and leave the work of the church to the staff.  We are all called to be ministers of the gospel and we want to involve people, according to their gifts and graces, in the ministry of the church.

With this in mind we offer two worship settings.  We have a Praise service in the fellowship hall at 8:30 a.m. This is a more casual service.  It is followed by Sunday School at 9:30 a.m.  At 10:45 a.m. we have a traditional service in the sanctuary.  The pastor and choir wear robes and the music is done with piano and organ.  Our pastor offers classes on Sunday nights throughout the year. Our desire is to meet Christ, grow in faith, and serve others.  We would love for you to join us in this mission.
